We started the morning off with a hike to tree line to see the bristle cone pine trees.
The pines do not have any shelter, so they are wind blown to one side. Some of these trees are as old as 4,500 years. Lots of wild flowers and a beautiful day.
Jimjim, John, Martha and Fat Albert at the ‘broccoli’ tree. Jimjim, Sue and Martha above and John, Fat Albert and Zoe below.
Zoe and Fat Albert-someone must have some food by the look on their faces. Looking down on Alma from above. To the left of town is a gold mine.
Dock, monkshood, alpine clover, senicio, a bunch of polymonium, elephant heads, green flower and blue flower.
Jacobs Ladder, pentstamen, a huge bunch of chiming bells, purple fringe, a small bunch of alpine chiming bells, pussy willows, rosy anemone, immature and old bristlecone pine cones.
I got into John’s camera and got some more hooping photos from yesterday. I am learning all kinds of tricks. The woman in the blue t-shirt beside me taught me some moves, second photo I am doing the lasso, third is Martha hooping. Today Jimjim won these lovely barefoot thongs in the door prize drawing, so he gave them to me, here I am modeling them.
The beach at the festival was a favorite for the kids. Not sure if we missed some mud wrestling or something.
More hoop shots. Me and a cute little girl. And look-two at once! The lady in the rubber duck costume was selling rubber ducks for the race. I bought 5, but alas did not win anything. Good thing Jimjim gave me his feet thongs.
Here is the rubber duck race. It benefited the Alma children's organization, so they chased the ducks down the river. The first duck to the finish line wins. Then it began to thunder and rain. Luckily I had brought my cagoule.
Those of us that stayed through the rain for the last band, danced. Jimjim, Martha and Jim behind, John and I. John never dances so it was a treat.
Martha alone and with Joe, in their matching rain gear.
We went back to the High house, dried off and Jimjim serenaded us on his $5 garage sale guitar. That he explained had a warped fret and he fixed it for $15, glue and a pocket knife.
