Kind of a rest day today. John worked on taxes. I rode my bike around to a couple scenic turnouts and the scenic drive. I thought before it got hot, but it was 80 degrees and wiped me out. After that laundry and my lawn chair.
This chuckwalla was giving me the eyeball. Petroglyphs at Atlatl rock. There are steps built in so you can climb up to the one panel, but all the rocks in the area are covered with petroglyphs.
This guy either does not speak English or he can’t read the do not climb on rock sign. One of the bee hive rocks.
Do not disturb petrified wood??? What, you can wake them up?? Yup laundry and my lawn chair.
A phainopepla –the black bird, they have a whistle that sounds like a human calling a dog. textured red rock. A couple wild flowers. An Indian petroglyph with modern graffiti next to it, and a natural glyph. these little white flowers were about an inch tall, they were carpeting the open areas, but you really had to look to see them.
The wind blew all night really hard, John got up in the middle of the night and put in all the awnings, he thought they might blow off. The bus was rocking. We woke up to brrr-temps in the 50’s, blowing dust and then rain. I went out to try out my new rain coat I got at REI for 50% off and my dividend. It works great. It was so cold with the wind chill and rain I had to come back and put a fleece and my gortex pants on too.
A couple sights. This cactus will be cool when it blooms, wet beetle, cool rock shapes and texture in the rain, wet wild flowers.
