It is predicted to be 73 degrees, sunny and calm today.
I woke up to a rainbow in the bedroom, so I caught it! We walked down early and watched the start of the Death Valley Marathon take off. Lots of people here for it.
Beautiful clouds over the palm trees. The Las Vegas Astronomy society is also having a event there. Tonight we can go down and see Astronomy in the park and get a laser guided tour of the night sky. It is set up on the driving range of the golf course.
Sunset. Field of desert gold near Furnace Creek.
Seen on my bike ride this am. Salt on the walls of Mustard canyon, yellow on the walls of mustard canyon, evening primrose and the spring water bubbling in the pool. The high was 82. We have finally found warm.
We went to the warm springs pool at Furnace Creek Ranch while the super bowl was on. It was heavenly and not crowded at all. Here is a shot of John sunbathing. He says he has 500 sunblock on.
Found this mermaid tail by the pool, hope she is ok. The borax processing mill at Harmony Borax works.
A twenty mule team wagon at Harmony Borax works. This is the latest basket so far. They seem to all be looking the same, but they are fun.
We went to Las Vegas to resupply. We went to Costco and REI. This is driving through Red Rock Canyon on the west side of Vegas. Notice the burro crossing sign. The second photo is also Red Rock Canyon on the way back through to go back to Shoshone.
Looking out the window between Vegas and Shoshone near sunset. The trees are Joshua trees. The warm spring pool in Shoshone. It has been 80 degrees so the pool feels wonderful.
I have been slaving over a hot stove cooking my pine needles in glycerin. They come out such a nice color and wonderfully flexible- much easier to work with. Our friend Jeff Sambur who also lives on the road and travels stopped in Shoshone for a couple days to visit with us. Always nice to see him.
Sunset . I was making fruit cake for the festival next December and made a few fruit cake heart shaped cupcakes for dessert.
The latest basket is finished. These are glycerin treated pine needles mixed with some lighter not treated needles.
