The day dawned clear and extremely windy, in the 60’s.
There was snow ont he Panamint mountains from the storm the day before. We drove up to Zabrisky point looking for flowers. These golden hills are lovely.
Looking toward the valley from Zabriski point. The wind is blowing so much dust down the vally you can’t even see it. To the North there is snow in the Funeral mountains too.
Lots of yellow evening primrose and purple phacialia. We headed toward Badwater to see the fields of flowers we saw a week and a half ago. The blowing dust all but obscured the Black mountains.
View from Badwater the lowest spot in North and South America adn in the distance, behind the blowing dust is the snowcaped Telescope Peak the highest post in in Death Valley. To our dismay the road was closed at Badwater due to flooding, will have to come back when it is open.
There were fields of brown eyed evening primroses and purple phacilia.
At Natural Bridge canyon there were fields of desert gold. Looking toward the valley you can see dust and where the water flowed into the valley and just disappeared underground in front of the salt pan.
Mohavea, phacilia, giant yellow evening primrose, white evening primrose in bud, mohavea and Phacilea. The basket is done, except for shellacing, which will darken it a little.
There were not really any clouds at sunset, but the dust in the air gave it an orange glow.
Evening light the next night from the campground.
Sunset and the finished shellaced basket.
