Feburary 16-18, 2016 Beginning of the Beatty to Badwater hike

I am late posting John’s photos of ther B2B hike he started with  Judy. 170 miles and 13 days. My sister does it every year. John had planned on joining her for the whole hike. Beatty to Badwater following the course of the Amargosa River. You can check it out at http://www.b2bhike.net/

I took this of John and Judy on departure from our motel in Beatty. The rest are John’s shots. Judy by the Amargosa River outside of Beatty.

The Amargosa farther along. The river bed was full of water and not very smooth walking so they hiked along the old rail bed of the  Tonahpah to Tidewater railroad. Straight shot, runs along the river.

Sunrise the next day. Red sky in the morning, hiker take warning. A huge wind and rain storm blew in during the day. Judy hiking on the T and T railbed.

Judy wears a solar charger on her hat to charge her iphone. She uses it as a phone, camera and downloads books in it to read in the evenings. Sunrise the next day.

Judy packing up her pack to head out again. It rained on them pretty hard with high winds that night. The storm blew out and left a lovely view on the mountians in the Amargosa Valley.

Too bad the dump along the way was closed! John’s hip started giving him trouble after carrying his pack almost 29 miles in 3 days, so I picked him up along the way and Judy continued on. We met her along the way at DeathValley Junction where we had dinner, spent the night and saw the ballet. Also in Shoshone when she came through. John hiked with her from Shosone to Tecopa, both with day packs. We went out to dinner and spent the night at the Tecopa Hot Springs resort. We also soaked there. We will meet her tomorrow night along the way and camp with her, we are driving the car. And we will stay with her at Furnace Creek Inn the last night.
