Judy, Ila and I headed to Death Valley for an art show.
Here are my basket for the show. Judy in the back of George’s truck which we packed to the gills with our booth and a booth for Mac and Judy.
We arrived early to nab a choice spot. Of course the wind was blowing about 30 mph and we waited and waited. It only got worse. Finally at 4 pm our room was ready to check into. We decided to set the booths up early in the am. While we were waiting our second cousin Bobbye and her hubby Cary came by. Cary, Bobbye and Judy. Judy has not seen them since their wedding 45 years ago.
Second cousins Judy, Suep and Bobbye. That evening Mac brought dinner for us. Mac and Judy in our room.
Here is the art show in progress. Our booth. I have my glass and baskets, Ila her bead work and Judy with her woodwork.
Across the isle from us is Pam with her pine needle baskets. Fabulous work. She taught me how to wrap coils. Mac in her booth with repurposed woods, gift items made from mesquite wood from the desert.
Judy made this wooden treadle lathe from plans from a lathe from the 1800’s. Everyone comes by to see it, then checks out our booth. Here is Judy instructing a 4 year old girl how to run the lathe. My display of baskets and glass. I told Ila to smile behind the display and she stuck out her tongue. Be careful what you do when I point the camera at you, you will see it again.
Judy Dillman and Mac shared a booth. Judy had wonderful paintings. The one on top to the left of her head is of Judy backpacking the Beatty to Badwater hike. I was thinking of buying it, but Judy beat me to it. Pam, the basket maker across from us taught me some new stitches and gave me two of her stones set in resin to use on the bottom of the baskets and taught me how to use them. Plus she also gave me some different cording to try and a new needle. She teaches classes in Quartzite and said if I get there to look her up and she will show me how to make the resins.
We headed back to Shoshone after the sale and had a meal of left overs from our meals in Death Valley and some spagetti squash and fajitas made by John.
