We took off to Death Valley to meet some friends. We missed the first set, we were supposed to meet them Mon afternoon and we didn’t make it. More are coming on Weds.
There was a high wind and dust warning for Monday, no high profile vehicles. The high wind warning was over, but the wind was still very high with dust. Dust got in everything, the bus was gritty. Great sign about the savage summer sun.
The bus in the Stove Pipe campground. We are by the tent campers. For some reason people who slept in their cars parked all around us. It was pretty noisy. I guess since the people were not indoors they spoke loudly and clattered thier possesions on the aluminum tables. The campground is right next to the Mesquite dunes, so we headed there for sunset. I had hoped all the sand in the air would make great colors. The colors did not materialize, but the dunes were lovely.
John with his chacos off. Dune textures.
Textures and colors.
The full moon rose as we walked back to the car. Here is a guy flying a kite in the dunes.
Dead mesquites and moon.
Wind blown tent, nettle plant and flower, dune texture, sidewinder and wind scoured dirt between the dunes.
