I went for a little walk in the desert behind the house. I climbed over a saddle of the mountains (hill size) and hiked around back to the house. The clouds were cool. Looking north from the top of the mountains.
Pretty looking valley to the west. Cool peaks up the valley on the other side.
Looking north at the colors in the afternoon light. Cotton top cactus.
Great clouds. Interesting rock and light.
Looking down into the valley I was hiking to. back lit shrubberies
Beautiful back lit shrubberies. Looking down on the school in Shoshone. Death Valley Academy, home of the Scorpions.
Sunset was fantastic. We went to the Tecopa Brewing Co BBQ for dinner. Yummy dinner, really good beer and great company. John, Judy P, Linda and Judy D.
Our entertainment during dinner was this cute little girl- her parents own and run the restaurant. She was dancing around with the cape and singing either I am the brisket, or I am the rescue. Then she would bow and say 'Thank you very much'. Her mother said it is from a show she watches.
I spent most of the day baking. We got lots of free fruit cake fruit at the Fruitcake Festival. I took a bunch and so did my sister. She gave them to me. I have way too many. I want to get rid of them. So I made two fruitcakes my sister will take home and freeze for an upcoming festival. I still have a ton of fruit. So I made cherry chocolate chip walnut brownies and green cherry, chocolate chip and walnut cookies. I gave a bunch away to anyone who came by. I don't want to keep all this for us, because we will just eat it and wear it tomorrow. I still have more fruit I will bake into something else soon. Sunset tonight.
We went to a history talk at the museum tonight. Keith Rosenberg spoke about his father who built the hot spring resort in Tecopa in the 1940's. Very interesting. I took a huge plate of cookies and brownies and they disappeared.
