November 19, 2021 Willcox, Arizona

72 and partly cloudy. We drove 3 hours today to Willcox, Arizona.

Entertaining bill boards on the way. The first ones were about the THING!. There were many more. The THING-mystery of the desert. Not one but two billboards side by side. The THING!, do you believe?? The THING- explore the mystery. The THING! Go see it!! We are still many miles from the THING, but we will have to stop when we get there.  I think I read it is some kind of shrunken head something, but we all know I love weird.  Then the Continental divide place. The Continental Trail that goes up the continental divide from the border of Mexico to the border of Canada starts in this area. First T-SHIRTS!, the SNAKE STUFF!!At the exit EXIT NOW!!Probably should have stopped, I might be interested in the SNAKE STUFF. Welcome to Arizona. The Grand Canyon state.

Poisonous snakes and insects inhabit this are. Yikes! We are now parked at the Cattles Rest RV park with an old west saloon.

The basket is almost done. A few threads hanging out of it. It is made with dyed navy blue pine needles, silver metallic thread and glass beads. The center is a piece of dichroic glass I beveled and polished. It is 5 x 4 1/2 x 2 3/4 inches. Instead of checking out the Old West Saloon at the RV park we went to the bird viewing area to see cranes. There was a huge flock of black birds.

Instead of checking out the Old West Saloon at the RV park we went to the bird viewing area to see cranes.  Last time we were here there were thousands of cranes one day and none the next. Today there were thousands of cranes and they flew by to other roosts for the night. It was cool watching and listening to all of them fly by. Cranes flying by.

There were three cranes on the lake, but they took off with the crowds when they went by. Also lots of Shovelers, they stayed. Dos Cabezas peak reflected in the lake.

Shovelers. The dust from people driving on all the dirt roads stayed backlit in the air.

Cranes in the sunset. The saturated colors at the end of the sunset.

Last nights full moon rising over Willcox.
