October 11. 2022 Carbondale to Fruita, Colorado

High of 69 and mostly sunny. Very nice day.

I finished this masterpiece today. It is 9 x 3 1/2. I made the glass center. The needles are dyed and I used polyester cord and glass seed beads. Came out very nicely.

Nice mushrooms on the wood pile. Martha walking the dog along river trail today.

View from Martha and Jimjim's front yard of Mt Sopris.  Sunset from the back yard.

Martha, Chili dog and Jimjim. Jimjim was leaving for Glenwood just as we were leaving. Martha and Chili went later.  We topped off the tanks east of Grand Junction. The price of fuel is going up. We will start driving less and staying longer.

We are camped at James R Robb park at the Fruita section. There are 5 sections of the park along the Colorado River through Grand Junction. Plus Colorado National Monument and McInnis Canyons National Conservation area. There is a paved bike path that goes through Grand Junction along the river to Loma and the Kokopelli mountain bike trail that goes from Fruita to Moab, Ut. This park is always full, so we were lucky to get two nights so won't have time to see all the sights. There are a bunch of these yellow butterflies fluttering around the purple aster flowers.

John rested from driving and I took a walk between the Colorado River and the two lakes on the Colorado river trail. . Looking back at the campground over Book Cliff lake. Looking over the Colorado River toward Colorado National Monument. The informational sign says " Swelling with run off from countless tributaries , the Colorado River carves through mountains, canyons, plains and desert before emptying into the Sea of Cortez in Mexico, The river runs thought harsh landscape  Historically raging spring floodwaters and drastically low flow during the summer, fall and winter.

Looking across Rocky Mountain Lake toward Colorado National Monument. This cool retro trailer is near us.

Our campsite at James R Robb state park, Fruita section. Sunset from dinner at our picnic table in our site tonight.
