70 and sunny.
We hiked into Butler Gulch to check out some the Wolfman petroglyphs. John squeezing though a tight spot on the way down. The first part of the Wolfman Panel.
Second part of the Wolfman panel. The figure is at least life sized, or bigger. Then we hiked down into the wash and half way up the other side to some ruins that were in the shadow about half way up the cliff.
There was a trail of sorts going through the brush in the wash, more like a tunnel. Some flowers- two kinds of yellow daisies, mallow and asters.
The ruin has had a lot of erosion on the walls. White draba, senecio, buckwheat and evening primrose.
This structure further under the overhand still looked good. Petroglyphs and pottery shards.
Posing lizards and bladderpod. A large rainwater filled pot hole. The wildlife in the desert depend on these for water.
John sitting in the shade for lunch. Asters, paintbrush and guara.
We hiked up the other side of the canyon looking for another ruin on my map. We could not find it, but saw it when climbed back out the canyon, we could see it across the way in the shadowed alcove on the left side of the top photo. Two weeks ago I put the green tomatoes from my garden into a paper bag and they now look like this. Yum yum.
