70 degrees and mostly sunny.
Beautiful day for a drive. View of Mt Sopris with fall colors. Martha, John and Chili dog at the St Benedicts monastery. We checked out the gift shop which is all that is open to the public.
Huge pile of mushrooms. We hiked in the Capital valley area. Capital peak is on of Colorado's peaks over 14,000 feet and is a very popular, very difficult. climb. People die every year trying to climb it. Warnings at the trail head- technically difficult terrain ahead, loose rock causes unstable footing, routes are not maintained, route deviation may cause death, hiring a guide is recommended for all climbs in the Elk Range, bear country, bear cannister required for back packers. We did not climb Capital peak, we went on a lovely aspen hike.
Martha, John and Jimjim ahead on the hike. Capital peak is the pointy one in the back. The fall colors are spectacular.
Beautiful aspens. Martha in the golden aspen.
John and Jimjim in the beautiful fall colored aspen. We stopped at Capital Creek brewery on the way home for a brew and appetizers that ended up being dinner. John, Sue, Jimjim and Martha.
Chili dog joined us and was wanting appetizers too. Sunset over Carbondale tonight.
The current masterpiece in progress. I made the glass center. It is currently 9 x 3 1/2 inches. We went to a fun birthday party/chili cook off this afternoon. Bill and Gigi, the birthday girl.
John chopped all the toppings for the chili's. Martha at the head of the line for the chili tasting.
Martha with the 'bull horn' with John explaining all the chili's. We decided all the chilis were good, so there was no winner. John and Jimjim with Chili Dog in his coat.
Sunset over the get together.
Full Harvest/Hunter moon rising over Carbondale.
