94 and sunny.
Another long day of driving. 5 hours. we are now parked at the Blue Cut RV park in Helper, Utah. Nice enough park, but it was 94, no shade on our spot. We only had a 30 amp hook up so could only run one AC. It got the bus down to 80. It was very pleasant after the sun went down. The cliffs across the street from the RV park.
I looked up local attractions on my phone and number one was the Kokopelli monument. Which is actually in Price, not Helper. It is a nice sculpture. Kokopelli, Kokopelli silhouette in the sunset. A dinosaur sculpture by the Prehistoric Museum,
welcome to Carbon County land of imagination. We stopped at Groggs, it says in tiny print on top of the sign that it is a brewery. But we are in Utah. John could only have a beer if we bought food and we had just had dinner. Oh well.
A rapid right next to the RV park. The old 1880 Price log jail. The grandfather of the owner saved it when they were going to destroy it and had it moved here.
Sunset. We made it to Colorado! Filled up with $3.39 a gallon for fuel, at the boat inspection station for Colorado John told the guy the last time the boats were in the water was Death Valley and I think we got another person who did not know where that was. He asked us if there were mussels in the water there. . . A caster bean plant from the RV park in Helper.
My bike was stolen from the back of the car last all on the Oregon coast. My friend Diana in Bend gave me her old bike. It needed a little work. Jimjim fixed the brakes and put on a new cable. Woo hoo, it works much better now. Thanks Jimjim and Diana. John and Mandy are moving their camper into Martha and Jimjim's back yard for the summer. They are building a house in the area and want to be near by to keep an eye on the progress. How many people does it take to unhook the camper from the car??
4 strong men were able to move the camper into place and it is now set up. We are parked out front of Jimjim and Martha's house in Carbondale now.
Martha cooked a wonderful dinner for us all. Cathy Brian, Jimjim, John, Mandy, John and Martha. Great to see everyone. The next night John smoked a big pork roast for dinner. Martha came by and she and Martha posed with the jewels I have been wrapping.
Finished these. The top one is made with dyed pine needles, polyester thread, glass beads and the center is a piece of dichroic glass I sandblasted a raven on, then fused with more dichro, then beveled and polished. It is 7 x 6 3/4 x 2 inches. The second one is made with dyed and natural pine needles, polyester thread, glass beads and the center is a glass puddle I fused. it is 6 x 5 1/2 x 1 3/4 inches.
I wrapped these dichroic glass pendants in the last few days. The large one is wrapped in silver, the others in copper. The left bottom one is a moonstone bead I wrapped in copper. Martha and Chili dog on a walk by the Crystal River. The river is very high, but not as high as it was.
John, Martha and chili dog. Martha and John with a waist high asparagus plant.
Pussy willow, red osier dogwood. wild rose, salsify, clover, and globe mallow. Mt Mount Sopris. Nice view from town.
Yellow lady slipper orchid. shooting star, blue eyed grass, star flowered Solomon's seal and another dichroic beveled polished glass pendant I wire wrapped in silver. I also wrapped a pink/purple one too, but it sold before I got a photo. John made green chili out of the left over smoked pork for dinner. John, Jim, Celia, John, Jimjim and Martha.
After dinner Jimjim serenaded us from the upper deck.
