The hike to Funeral Canyon leaves right above the campground. It was 82 today, but much hotter in these canyons where the sunlight reflects the heat back at you. Would never hike this except in the winter.
Starting up the wide wash. Looking back at the trail they take you on the horse back rides. There is a mine here at the turn around, we didn’t stop to look till the way back.
This is where the hike got more interesting. The canyon tightened up. John touching both sides.
There are two forks near the end. This is the left fork.
John at the end of the left fork.
Heading back down.
Really cool narrows. Sue walking down.
Sue touching both sides. At the mouth of the forks is this cool drippy looking rock.
Two dry falls coming into the canyon at the fork. The right fork is wider, but still cool looking.
John at the dry fall at the end of the right fork. We had lunch here. Some butterflies on a bush.
Coming back down the right fork and then the main canyon.
John on top of one of the many shafts of the mine on the way back. 82 degrees. Too hot in those canyons with no shade. In the shade it was ok.
20 mule team in a picture over the bar at Corkscrew Saloon at Furnace Creek Ranch. We sat in our chairs with wine/beer and peppercorn brie from one of our harvest hosts and crackers and watched the full moon rise. I love it when it is warm enough to sit out in the evening.
The next day was pretty much a relaxing day. Worked on the basket, nice lawn chair day. Love it when you can sit out in the evening. You can see the sun setting in the reflection on the bus window.
