January 6, 2014 Death Valley, California

We hiked an old favorite today, Gower Gulch to Golden canyon. It was a beautiful day to be out in some beautiful canyons.

I think I take this photo every time I go by it, I just love that curly cue. Looking down toward Death Valley on the way down.

Red Cathedral. John got me these light hiking boots when we went to buy his new ones.

Further down. Looking back at the front side of Manley beacon. When the 49er’s were stranded in Death Valley in 1849 Mr Manley went out for help and found them when he came back by this peak.

The sky to the west was on fire tonight. It was kind of a 360 degree sunset, this other one is south.
