I saw these guys silhouetted on the horizon when I woke up, by the time I got the camera they had spooked and ran off.
Finished this beauty made with birch bark. Need to get it boxed up and mailed to the buyer. We hiked up to Green Mountain Falls in the Sierra Madras mountains west of Saratoga today. the map shows a road to the trail head. When we got there it was a 4 wheel drive road, so we walked another 4 miles round trip on it. Aspens along the road . The light is kind of orange from the smoke in the air.
Oregon Grape, trail head sign, indian paintbrush, camp robber, yellow aster and purple asters. Small streams were trickling down everywhere, the deep snow banks in the winter bend the smaller trees in the winter, thimble berries and a ragged butterfly feeding on an aster.
'Coot' must have started a cabin on his 1/4 mile of property. First we saw the logs on a broken down trailer, then the sign, then the truss and a few logs scattered around the clearing. Looking down part of Green Mountain waterfall.
John just washed his feet here. Lots of livestock poop on the trail. Notice the curved tree trunk, it made a great chair for lunch.
John walking in waist deep thimble berry bushes on the trail. Beautiful beaver pond. The smoke in the air obscures the sky.
Huston park wilderness sign, elderberries, service berries, some early fall aspen leaves on the ground, knapweed and rose hips. After the 7 mile hike we went to the hot springs. Very relaxing. John in the bubbles where the spring water comes into the pool.
Red sunset in the smoke. The smoke was bad, here is a shot yesterday of the Snowy Range mtns and today they disappeared.
