March 3 2020, China Ranch, California

75, sunny and windy. We hiked with the Tecopa Hiking Club (THC). We were going to go to the Gun Sight mine, but went to China Ranch on the Mars trail because there would be no wind there.

The THC on the first ridge. Kelly, John, Toni, Roger, and Jim. John took this photo of us in a small canyon with steps. Carol is and I are last in line.

Roger says 'follow me' down this perpendicular slope. We cliffed out at this dry fall.  Looking straight down.

Retracing our steps and coming down an easier slope.

The THC under poison rock, one drop and it kills you. Sue, John, Jim, Kelly, Carol and Toni. Curved lines into a turn of the canyon through an overhang.

Jim exiting the over hang area. Looking above at the the overhang.

Lunch at a nice shady spot.  Toni, Roger and Jim. John in another tight spot.

Cool looking overhang. This canyon was so tight there was barely room for our feet.

Spectacular view from the top.  John, Carol, Jim and Roger walking the ridge.

Walking back down. The main wash back to China Ranch.

Gravel ghost flower, desert holly, phacelia, desert gold, chicory, rayless sweetbush flower. Wild rock/dirt formations and Roger at lunch with a odd hoo doo over his shoulder.

Dirt forms, and two views of gypsum crystals that litter the hillsides. THC heading back into the desert oasis, China Ranch Date Farm.

Walking though the date orchards at China Ranch date farm. Garden in front of China Ranch Date farm gift shop, a display that includes my jewelry in the gift shop. Mine are the earrings at the top and pendants on the lower left. John with a date shake.
Tecopa last night.
