February 14-17, 2022 Beatty, Nevada to Shoshone, California to Death Valley Junction, California.

 76 degrees and sunny.

Judy P, Bec and Judy D headed out on the trail from Beatty to Badwater this morning. Good better  Good, better, Beatty - gateway to Death Valley, Thankyou for visiting Beatty Nevada, The gateway to Death Valley.

We stopped to visit a mine/ ghost town we had seen on the way to Beatty. A couple of buildings.

Off the west we could see Telescope Peak, which is in on the other side of Death Valley. The mountains in the front are the Funeral Mountains on the east side of Death Valley. Where we are is just east of Death  Valley here. Big Dune just east of the highway.

This police car was coming down the road with lights going in our lane. We pulled over and a huge load came by behind it in both lanes.  Sunset tonight in Shoshone.

Valentines day happy hour on our patio with John, Emmett and Bec. It was 64 clear and very windy this am. When I went to my massage I saw this black could to the west.

This dark storm cloud blew over and it sort of rained. You could see blue sky north and south of us. Emmett and John at happy hour in the wind and rain. Bec and I were inside cooking dinner and joined them after the rain with dinner.

67 and sunny and another very windy day. The full moon in a palm tree tonight. I finished this masterpiece today. It is made of natural and dyed pine needles, glass beads and polyester thread. The center is a piece of glass I fused. It is 11 x 10 1 1 1/2 inches.

Tonight we are in Death Valley Junction at the Amargosa hotel. It is home of the Amargosa opera house where Marta Beckett performed opera and ballet for many, many years. Judy P and Judy D have been backpacking the last 4 days and are arriving here. We brought dinner. All of todays photos were loaded into my new tablet, edited and posted. I bought just for this purpose. The last two tablets I had, which I purchased for the same reason I could not do this on. Love the new one.

This is our room. The bed, air conditioner and window are real. The rest Marta painted on the walls. John enjoying our bed with a swan painted on the wall above it.

Bec and Emmett are parked outside our room in their sports mobile. They have a restroom pass! The common area and dining room. When the Borax company owned this the miners lived here and they were served meals in here. All the alcoves are painted on the wall by Marta Beckett.

Dinner tonight prepared by John at home and brought here and served. Soup, pesto and salad. Yum yum, thank you John. John, Judy, Emmett, Bec and Judy. Sunset across the street from the Amargosa hotel.
