January 29- February 1 , 2022 Shoshone, California

62 degrees, cloudy and windy. Good day to stay inside.

We hiked the bluff trail then hung out inside. The sun came out at the last minute to give us sunset.  I am beading the center of my current masterpiece. I worked 5 hours on  the beads and porcupine quills around the center. About half done. Looks nice. 66 today and sunny. Hiked in Amargosa Canyon.

We hiked with the Tecopa Hiking Club. Heading into the canyon. The canyon follows the Amargosa river and is lovely.

Phragmites and palm tree. Toni walking on the trail, which is the old railroad bed.

The Promontory. The club  climbed it last week, but we had just got here and were too tired to go anywhere. Looks like a beautiful hike. Trail the the waterfall, in the middle of a hot stinking desert.

It is always amazing to see water in the desert.

The Amargosa river. We ended our hike at  China Ranch Date Farm, an oasis in the desert for date shakes. Alison, John Michael and James.

Date shakes at China Ranch Date farm at the end of our hike. The road out of China Ranch is a narrow, steep canyon with cool geology.

It was 60 and cloudy all day. Not sure how it happened, but we got this donut sunset. I am preparing to start a new masterpiece. First I went though 2 bags of centers and chose one, then all my beads to choose some to go with it, then needle colors and thread colors and now I just need to decide which stitch to use! Too many choices.

John made the perfect cloudy day dinner. Home made san Marzano tomato soup, grilled cheese on homemade bread and asparagus, plus wine. Excellent. 62 and sunny, bit windy. We hiked the white bluff trail. Judy and John.

On the Bluff trail. Judy and John coming over the ridge.
