December 8-9 , 2022 organ Pipe Cactus National Monument

 68 and mostly sunny.

Fuel prices are up. But we are not moving for 3 weeks now. Passed through WHY and a very fat barrel cactus, lots of moisture this year in the desert. Mountains with saguaro cactus leaving Tucson.

The bus at our campsite at Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument. Here for 3 weeks. Ahhhh. Still working on the masterpiece.

Really cool rig. It is an Opus, rugged pop up. You park it, push a button ,the pneumatics blow up the ribs and the tent is set up. It was built for the outback. Fancy suspension.  It even has articulating hitch. According to the guy it has a nice kitchen, big bed and shower. 8 feet tall inside. John getting ready to hug a cholla.

Sonoran desert view.  Organ pipe cactus.

View out the front door at sunset.  Dinner at the picnic table tonight.

Sunset tonight. Our friend Connie who is also out traveling in the area came down to visit us. We went on a hike on the Vista View Trail. Connie and John.

Looking back down at the campground-the  little while dots. Backlit cholla and organ pipe cactus.

Intertwined organ pipe cactus. The mountains in the background are in Mexico. Organ pipe Monument extends to the border 5 miles away.

Connie and John walking with organ pipe cactus. John and Connie back at camp. They have been friends in Fort Collins for maybe 30 years.

Connie took this of me with my current masterpiece. Sunset was once again beautiful.

Lovely sunset. Early blooms this year, brittle bush, and cholla. The short cactus are backlit tiny young organ pipe cactus. Sunset with a saguaro.

A bee stung me on the back of my knee- the one on the right and I have a red welt down to the middle of my calf. I hate bee stings.
