We packed up the car to drive to Beatty for the Judy's to start their 2 week , 170 mile Beatty to Badwater hike in up to 80 mph gusts. Low visibility blowing dust. Eagle Mountain appearing out of the blowing dust.
Storm clouds, blowing dust and snow. Judy and Judy heading out to the desert to cache food and water for their hike. In the desert you need a gallon of water a day, and that is pretty heavy to carry.

We made it to Beatty, Nevada. We will spend the night and they will leave in the early am. We are staying at the Death Valley Inn in Beatty for the night. We sheltered inside the rest of the day from the cold and high wind.
Judy and Judy leaving for the first leg of their 170 mile, 2 week backpack. It is 30 degrees and windy, but the weather is much better than yesterday. We drove from Shoshone, California to Beatty, Nevada yesterday, today we drove from Nevada to California through Death Valley Junction, then back into Nevada into Pahrump to shop, then back to Shoshone, California. Behind this thanks for visiting Nevada sign is the Welcome to California sign.
Pahrump, Nevada coming from the north of town. Mt Charleston in the background with snow from yesterdays storm. High of 66 and mostly sunny. It was windy in the morning, but calmed down in the afternoon. John washing all the dust of the car from driving on dirt roads in a dust storm.
Linda and Marlys came over for another successful basket class. I started this during the class. We all used my fused glass centers. This is ornamental grass edged with black pine needles. It will be bigger.
We had to dump the bus so we drove to Tecopa and dumped. And since we were there soaked at the Tecopa hot springs. Wonderful soak. Sun setting over the Grimshaw wetlands outside of Tecopa on the way home.
