February 21-22, 2023 Shoshone, California

High of 76, partly sunny. High wind and dust in the afternoon.

View of Shoshone with the high wind and blowing dust. Sunset tonight was beautiful.

We love the dark chocolate with the spicy chili with cinnamon  in it. Haven't been able to buy it lately, so I have been making some. Today I went shopping in Pahrump and decided to try some cheaper chocolates, so I made three batches tonight. I chocolate flavored cheap stuff was not very good, even when it was very spicy, the cheap semi sweet chocolate chips are good and the Hersey's special dark chocolate was too. I got chocolate all over the kitchen and we are sick to our stomachs from so much sugar. This is why John does the grocery shopping. . . High of 66 today. It rained a bit last night, then today we had a few snow squalls, then sunny with wind off and on.

This beauty had a mind of it's own and got way bigger than I had intended. It is made from dyed and natural pine needles, polyester threat, glass beads and the center and the 4 pieces on the sides are glass that I fused.  It is 10 1/2 x 10 1/2 x 2 inches.

I wanted the walk the blue trail, but it was still muddy. I was up to my ankles in mud. The good news is that my boots do not look new anymore. We decided to hike on the Sage trail to see the work they have been doing on the wetland part. It looks wonderful. They are going to put rocks around the water and plant native plants.

Deputy Tim and deputy Ryan marching toward us to arrest us for trespassing. Robbie and Judy talked our way out of the ticket. To the right will be the pond on the trail.

Judy and I hiked on the Sage trail to the Aqua trail through the wetland to the badlands.

The light and clouds on the badlands this afternoon were beautiful.  Crossing the Amargosa river with Little Black mountain in the background.

Judy crossing the bridge she built over the marsh on the red trail.  Sunset with last light on the Nopah range in the center.

Sunset over Lake Robbie. Tom and Sally invited us to dinner in the rig. They have been living in it for 7 years. John and Tom worked together in the fire service in Fort Collins.

Tom and Sally cooking us a scrumptious pulled pork dinner in their spacious  RV with Philo hoping for some dropped pork.
