January 30 - February 2 , 2023 Shoshone, California

54, cloudy and very windy, gust into to 40's mph.

Cloudy, windy and cold. The sun shining of the Resting Springs Mountains behind downtown Shoshone. A plume of sunset right and on the left the last light on the Nopah range behind the Resting Springs range.

Sunset to the west.  Linda came over today for a basket class and finished this cute little basket with a glass center. We had lots of fun and she may be hooked.

I finished this one last night. It is made from some maybe muley grass I collected in Nevada and dyed pine needles, polyester thread,, glass beads and the center is a turtle I cast from recycled wine bottles. I had not worked with this grass before and wanted to see what it was like. It was real easy to work with, but not sure how durable it is. 8 x 9 x 2 inches. I made this small one as an example while  the basket class. 4 3/4 x 1 inches. Dyed pine needles, polyester thread and a piece of dichroic glass I cast.

I started this one in the basket class, then it just kind of made it self last night. After I started it I realized that I had some beads that matched the center almost perfectly.  I love how the orange and blue  just pop.  Dyed pine needles, glass beads, polyester thread  and an iridized glass center I bought. 7 1/2 x 7 1/2 x 1 3/4 inches.  John and Judy on the White trail on our hike this afternoon. It was 63, sunny with a sight breeze. It was lovely.

65.8 degrees and sunny. We went on a THC hike to 'Toni's face" at Gunsight Mine.  Lots of fun, saw lots of friends and a beautiful day. The group hiking to the Gunsight Mine Stamp mill. Climbing up the side of where the stamp mill was.

Lunch break to my left. Lunch break to my right.

Toni's face. This is made from mining debris. Toni found it to start with, so it is named after her.  Mike pulling up the plastic bird killing hollow mine claim stakes. Thanks Mike.

Sunset.  We were having dinner on the patio and Robbie stopped to visit with his dog Lilly.

Judy feeding dog biscuits to Lilly. Lilly was so excited and her tail is wagging so fast she can't sit for the treats. John cooking steaks that Bec and Em brought from Las Vegas for dinner.
