October 20-22 , 2024 Gull Lake , Minnesota to Grantsburg, Wisconsin

 High of 73 and sunny.

We went to Abby and Brads house to watch the game. It was so lovely out we watched outside. The Vikings lost, but a good game. Yummy food and good company. John, Deb and I went for a walk after the game. The fall colors are lovely.

Fall colors on our hike at Gull Lake State Park.

Fall colors reflected in Gull Lake.

I was on the dock for sunset and this muskrat swam up to me.  Lots of fish were jumping. Sunset.

We got our absentee ballots and voted. Woo hoo, John got the part for the toilet and it is now fixed.

It was 79 degrees today. We went kayaking at Cuyuna State Park. It was lovely. Sunset on Gull Lake.

We had dinner at Brian and Deb's house. John BBQ'd steaks, Deb made muffins, Brian made mashed potatoes and I made kale quinoa salad. Good food and good company. We said good bye to Deb and Brian this morning. It was a great to visit with them.

Topped up the tank in Brainard. Interesting to see the different blends of diesel fuel different months. I didn't realize that diesel turns to gel at very low temperatures. The bus at Memory Lake campground in Grantsburg, Wisconsin.  Nice spot by a lake and on the river.

Beautiful, historic downtown Grantsburg, Wisconsin. There is this big statue of Anders Gustav Anderson, or Big Gust, covered and glassed in. He was 7 feet 6 inches tall and weighed 360 pounds. He was the sheriff, street commissioner, dog catcher, assessor. lamp lighter and fire fighter. He was the largest police officer in the country during his tenure 1902-1926. They have a Big Gust festival every year here.

Memory Lake. Welcome to Wisconsin, the Pink Squirrel is an antique mall that is only open once a month, there is a weather siren and we had a brew at the Brickfield Brewery this afternoon.

Sunset over Mirror Lake. You can find your adventure here in Grantsburg either on water, snow, bike or foot. Maps and descriptions of each.
