October 5, 2024 Dickenson, North Dakota

High of 67, sunny and really windy. Wind of 30-40 mph with gusts to 75 mph. Really brutal.

We drove on the Enchanted highway today. It has a bunch of HUGE sculptures- 50-110 feet high along it. They were made to bring tourists to the small town of Regent where the artist lives. The sculptures are made of welded scrap metal, mostly old 50 gallon drums and pipe. There were a lot of signs, sort of like Wall drug signs. In the town of Regent there is now the Enchanted castle- built in an old cinder block school, with a gym in it. It has the Medieval tavern and Excalibur Steak house in it and enchanted gift shop. And an Enchanted RV park, only $20 a night. In the medieval woman's room there was a sign on the wall that said Beauty is power, a smile is it's sword. The deer family is 77 feet high.  The Enchanted Maze is there too.

On the highway is also Lefor, population 74. here is the church and the remains of the old bank. This are is mostly agricultural. They grow corn, sunflowers, but mostly hay and grains.

The Grasshoppers in the field sculpture. It is 40 feet tall and 50 feet wide. You can kind of see the truck under it. The Fisherman's dream is gigantic.  So many different cool sculptures. The big rainbow trout in the back is 70 feet tall.

Here I am sitting on the tail of the 70 foot rainbow trout. Most of the metal you see along here are huge silos.

Pheasants on the Prairie. The hen hidden behind the rooster is 40 feet tall, so the rooster is much bigger. The Tin family. Pa is 45 feet tall.

At the entrance to the town of Regent is this metal castle sign that says Welcome to Regent, Enchanted highway, the road of anticipation. We treat you like royalty. A point of interest, Black Butte that was a landmark for the stage. The hen and a couple of the pheasant chicks from the pheasant sculpture. In front of the Enchanted Castle is this giant sculpture of a knight and a dragon.

The Enchanted Castle is built from a cinderblock school, complete with a gym. Me with a suit of armor.

Excalibur Steak house in the Enchanted Castle hotel. That and the Medieval Tavern were closed. The Enchanted highway gift shop was also closed, but had this great metal sculpture next to it.

Beautiful historic downtown Regent, North Dakota. Population 176. At the end of the Enchanted Highway and home of the Enchanted castle, RV park and gift shop. Geese in Flight. It is 110 feet tall. It has a fence on the road up to it with geese.

We are now parked at a harvest host site,  the Phat Fish Brewery. They have a 3 acre parking lot, so there are also two other motorhomes here. John with a s'mores porter.  They make a bunch of fruity beers. He likes IPA, the only one they had was a citrus dream sickle IPA, which he would not drink, so he got the s'more porter. We had dinner too. They have a bunch of really weird food too, a mix of things that just don't go together. So we had a build your own pizza with more normal ingredients.

They also have axe throwing in the back.
