Last night there was a really intense aurora. I looked out the window and saw an arch going all across the sky from the west to the east. The ends were looking active. Then the whole half of the sky to the north lit up with light. It was mostly light green, pink and light shades of blue. So we started taking photos. The cones in the eye can't see color at night, but the camera can. Even with the naked eye it was very bright, changing shape, rippling and pulsing light like lightening. It was amazing. It went on like that for over an hour. Then is dimmed and was only visible to the north, but it was pulsing rippling light from the bottom to the middle of the sky. It did that the rest of the night. It was filmy, you could see the stars being it all.
A record of our travels in the Penguin. John's mother's nickname was the Penguin and since she made the RV happen, we named the bus after her.

October 8, 2024 Lake Sakakawea, North Dakotra
The arch. The end of the arch to the west.
Intensifying.
Looking straight up. There was light steaking around up there like lightening. It was almost as bright outside as with a full moon.
The bozo who camped right next to us trailer. I guess it was good, it gave perspective to the lightshow.
Since the cones in the eyes cannot see color at night this is what we actually saw. The camera that can see color at night saw this.
Rippling, morphing, pulsing light.
After about an hour is dimmed down, but was still pulsing rippling light up.
The pictures got blurry because it was moving in the long shutter speed.
