We took a short hike up the Nooksack Cirque trail.
The trail head was kind of hard to find. It had an arrow pointing to Ruth creek. We wandered around for awhile. Finally another car came and we asked, you are supposed to cross the creek and find the trail on the other side. We crossed on these logs, went the right direction and there was the trail. It looked on the map like if followed the river, but you never saw the river. It was a green corridor, very nice. We hiked about 5 miles round trip. Didn’t make it to the cirque. Pretty sore from out long, lots of elevation hike yesterday.
On the way back we just forded the Ruth Creek. Had lunch by this nice swimming hole.
Nice falls on Ruth Creek. Vines on a huge old growth log.
Spiders, mushrooms and a crowd of puff balls.
Mushroom, devils walking stick blooms, fern and white flowers. John put up a tarp over the picnic table, it is supposed to rain tonight.
I worked on the basket. I am making a vase shaped basket, the shells in their own baskets will right the neck of it. It is still a work in progress. We went to a salmon habitat talk in the evening. 5 kinds of salmon live in this area. The Pink salmon are now spawning in the rivers here. The red salmon in the front here is a sockeye male red for breeding.
