September 16-17 Douglas Fir campground, Washington

It poured rain for about 24 hours. Foggy and damp. We mostly hung out inside. We had our mail sent here to the post office in Glacier, Wa . It didn’t come today. The post office does not even open till 2:30 in the afternoon.  Check out in the campground is 2:00, so we will have to stay another day even if it does come in.

I ventured out for a walk. Wet and soggy. Couldn’t tell if the river was up or not.

Got lots of work done on the basket. The first photo is the bottom part, then I added the shells on top.  I made the little shell basket s to make a wall hanging, then decided a basket might work.  We will see.

The mail came Tues. We will stay another night. It is supposed to get into the 40’s at night. Time to head south. Took another walk today. Didn’t rain much, but it was cold and damp and foggy. Not very inviting outside, but it was still pretty. A tree growing on top of an old stump and a moss curtain.

The salmon were mesmerizing in the river. Here are three swimming. They get in water not deep enough for them and they just wiggle their way up. They get up to 22 inches long, they are really big fish. When they spawn they get a hump back and a hooked jaw. It is amazing how they get up through all the big rapids.  Moss trees.

I watched 100’s of salmon swim up this small fall, they were just milling around above and below, they never stopped, just kept coming. Took a couple tries, but they just forged on up. The clouds were fingering back into the valley and it began to rain a little more.

These pink flowers bloomed since the rain. The mushrooms are happy. Popping out in multiples and on top of each other. The yellow stuff is called witches butter.
