September 23, 2013 Deception Pass State Park

We had a relaxing day. We went to Anacortes again so John could taste beer at the breweries and for us to use the internet since we have to internet in the park. Wouldn’t you know it, the breweries were closed. Probably recovering from the biker rally.  We had lunch at a nice restaurant and caught up on the internet.

Back at the park we took a walk on the west beach trail. There was sea weed on the beach, and this other sea weed looking stuff that was the color of latex exam gloves.  This douglas fir is 850 years old, it has been knarled from the  weather on the beach.

The moss on these trees is not moss, it is lichen in really weird shapes. And a banana slug, huge, maybe 6 inches long. They breath through the hole in the side of their head. Their eyes are on the stalks.
