The last couple nights we have stopped at the bar/store/restaurant/etc Crosby's lodge. The only game in town. It was us and maybe 5 other fisherpeople. We had a drink and free popcorn. The lodge rooms were empty. Tonight the night before opening day the lodge rooms were full and the place was packed. Even had a Dj playing music. They had a special home cooked meal for the fishermen. Including a cupcake. I asked the waitress if I could get a cupcake without the meal-it was my husbands birthday and she took me back in the kitchen and gave me two free. Here is birthday boy with his cupcake and beer. He was a happy boy.
Both of us with his cupcake and beer. The last few nights there was only one bartender-Crystal Belle, a sweet lady, no make up, t shirt, hair up. Tonight there were two. The lady in black is Crystal Belle, but tonight she has make up, hair down and cleavage. Same sweet lady, dressed for the big night and tips. Wild night at Crosby's.
The lodge is all about fishing. The trout in the middle weighs 23 lbs and is 36 inches long. They sold out of their special meatloaf dinner there were so many people. The fishing gear in the shop, Trout Slayer Ale and the women's bathroom said Fisherwomen on it. Sunset tonight.
Sunset tonight. I woke up in the morning and the bedroom was pink.I looked out and saw this great sunrise lighting up the rain on the mountains across the lake.
More of today's sunrise. It is the opening day of fishing on Pyramid Lake which has the biggest cutthroat trout in the world. So here are the fishermen on our beach which has been deserted for the last 4 days. About 5 boats out there. My favorite was the guy closest to shore, he drug a chair on top of a ladder out and sat down and fished from there. Farther north the beach was lined with RV's and there were tons of boats out. Everyone is trying to catch a lunker.
Welcome to California and Sierra county, We are now in Susanville, California. One of their radio stations is KSUE- Good times and great oldies, The Remark-a-bull on the fairgrounds sign, every wonder where your ale comes from? The Ale-evator. If you look in the ale-evator it was an old dumb waiter from the basement. We are parked in the Susanville RV park. Nice enough for a commercial park. They very nicely put these huge globe lights on each site where it will shine into your bedroom window at night.
The slide has started to creep out now. To slow it's progress we are not using either of the slides. This weekend the hot water heater went out. The bus must know we are on our way to Oregon Motorcoach to get maintenance work done on the bus. I guess it is better that the things go wrong before we get there instead of after we leave there. My basket is officially finished. 11 x 9 1/2 x 2 inches. the center is a dichroic bear I fused, with 4 bear beads with dyed pine needles.
My newest project has a piece of glass I beveled and polished. On our way to dinner tonight 6 deer ran out in front of us on main street. Everyone stopped so none were hit.
I took John out to dinner for his birthday season at the Pioneer Cafe/Lassen ale works. The Pioneer has been in use since 1864. John with his Volcano double IPA. The bar is the longest one in Northern California and there are murals painted on the walls in the billiard room.
