March 18-20, 2022 Shoshone, California

 79 and sunny today.

I spent the day in the lawn chair working on this masterpiece. It is 7 1/2 x 9 inches. I still need to add a couple embellishments.

I used the masterpiece as a centerpiece on the happy hour table. Prickly pear, pin cushion, salt bush and brittle bush.

Cottontop cactus. either a branch bud or flower of cotton top, seed head of cotton top,  holey rock. Bec and Judy hiking this afternoon. The Kingston mountains in the background are we hiked the next day.

Bec and Judy hiking this afternoon. This is caused by the creosote gall midge, bursage, creosote flowers and flowering bush.

Sunset tonight.

Down Thelma and Louise road is this deep canyon, with sheer cliffs. We hiked in the Kingston Mountains today, just east of Tecopa. Cholla and rugged granite peaks.

James took us to this rustic cabin. We gave him house warming present for it, which we put on the free rock on the way home. Judy D beside a  Perry's Nolina with last years dead bloom. These are huge plants and flowers, they are incredible when they bloom.

Looking back at the view to the North. Huge granite boulders.

Hedge hog cactus,  false wooly daisies, wire pea, and paintbrush. James is standing by this Nolina bud so you can see how tall it is. I have seen the plants as tall as I am, and the the blooms as tall as I am on top.

We were going to go down this canyon, but got cliffed out and hiked back up. John waiting patiently for us.

Pancake prickly pear cactus, giant yucca blooms, filaree, a shaggy mojave prickly pear cactus. James and Judy and I were on the high trail down.

John was on the low trail down. Building at Horse Thief Spring. The cottonwoods are just leafing out.

Mojave yucca flowers.
