We left Death Valley today and returned to Shoshone. Thanks for experiencing your national park. We saw these tiny yellow belly flowers on our hike today. Can't find what they are.
A view of rounded top hills and blue sky on our hike. After spending this week in Death Valley where it was in the 90's and I wore a sundress in the shade, or bathing suit by the pool, to Shoshone where we wore down coats for happy hour. Judy, Judy, Emmett, John and Bec.
My husband the fashion poodle! I particularly like the pompon from his stocking cap under his baseball cap. Sunset was a few puffy pink clouds tonight.
Toni and Lorraine at Eagles view on our hike today. Tecopa heights from our hike.
Judy, Judy and I spent the day with a group of girl scouts. They are working on their hiking and camping badge. Judy P showed them what you need to pack in your backpack when you camp. See her tent in the background? Judy D taught them some map and compass work-pictured here. They then went outside and followed a bearing on the compass. I was supposed to lead them on a hike, but the wind was gusting over 60 mph, so I was let off the hook. We also had lunch at the Crowbar and then Mary gave them a tour of the museum and we all put on cotton gloves and got to handle some historic pieces. Lots of fun. The girl scouts at Dublin Gulch at one of the historic cave homes.
Seen today while hiking- mohavea, crypanthia, yellow flower, yellow cup, and a chuckwalla. The current masterpiece so far. It is made around birch bark. It is 6 1/2 inches tall and 7 across.
Our annual 'family' Death Valley trip is starting. Jill, Mac and Rod arrived today. Happy hour while the sun was still shining thanks to daylight savings time.
Happy hour. We wrapped it up with dinner on the deck of the Bunkhouse.
