November 2023 28-29 ,Coos Bay, Oregon

 55 and sunny.

This morning my mountain bike was gone and the cable was cut. It must have been very dark and they were stoned. It was 20 years old, the frame was bent  and beat up. I never thought anyone would want to steal it. But it had front and rear shocks and disc brakes.  Second time we have been robbed at this campground. Second time we have been robbed in 14 years of RVing. We hiked 4 miles on the Cape Arago Trail. Was a beautiful day and hike.

Cape Arago Light house is on an island off shore and not in service anymore. Norton Bay.

Small waterfall at Norton Bay. The waves here are humongous when there are waves. It was very calm today, so only small waves.

Still cool waves. This point is at Shore Acres, We have seen waves breaking higher than the cliffs, but not today.

Nice wave breaks.

Another nice wave break. I love this tree hanging off the cliff. Good reminder to not stand too close to the cliff edges, many of them are undercut.

Cool rocks near Shore Acres.

Huge waves break up here, but not today. Must have been recently because there is a lot of water here. Tree roots.

John on the trail. We stopped at 7 Devil Water front Ale house and John got an IPA and we had fries.

High of 50 and mostly cloudy. We took a walk on the beach right here in the campground. Clouds reflected on the beach.

Waves. There were a couple of surfers out there. You can't see the surfers, you see a couple of buoys at the mouth of the bay.  John reflected in clouds on the beach.

Alcove in the cliff.  Flowers, half a sand dollar $0.50, one legged sea gull and the star and angel Christmas decorations are made from white plastic hangers.

Cave near the beginning of the jetty. Sunset seemed to have come awful early, sunset is  too early now. You can see the light house on the point to the right.

Clouds behind us at sunset. There were some cool clouds with sunset.

The point has a small arch in it. Sunset's finale.

November 26, 2023 Eugene to Cape Arago, Oregon

High of 45 and a sunny day.

It was 24 degrees last night. Brrr. No fog, but woke up to heavy frost. We walked with Scott and Leslie at Mt Pisgah Arboretum this afternoon. It was beautiful out, but only in the 40's.

Walking the dog and there was still frost on the ground in the shade at 3 pm.

Lichen on the oak trees. An old barn at Mt Pisgah.

The south fork of the Willamette river. John, Scott. Leslie and Rhody ahead on the trail. After hiking they came over for dinner. Great to see them this trip.

Warty tree, red holly. A  map of Mt Pisgah.

Woke up to 27 degrees and freezing fog. Into Eugene the fog was only over the rivers. Farther south there was still fog, with frost rimed trees.

Over the Umpqua river the fog began to disappear. The bridge into South Bend over the Umpqua river.

This campsite at Bastendorf county park looked to be divinely chosen, but we had reserved  the one across the way. Besides the other guy was the only one on this side of the loop, it would have been rude to camp next to him. I wrapped  6 more   pendants. I like this new style.

The view from Bastendorf county park of the ocean. Cool  light on the campground. 55 and sunny. It is warmer on the coast.

At Simpson reef there were a ton of loudly barking sea lions and harbor seals. It was low tide, so no big waves.

View north from Simpson Reef  overlook.  We hiked down to South Cove beach. There are tide pools in those black rocks.

Nice reflection on the beach. Beautiful beach.

Tide pools. Fuel was only $3.87 a gallon, so John filled up, There was another 60 gallons before these. , Let Freedom ring, with a little trailer on a wheel cover on a 5th wheel, lines in the sand, a closed sea anemone above the waterline, our funky Christmas wreath I made from a cedar branch that grounds keeper had cut off near our campsite. We don't have room for a tree. turban snails in the tide pools, sea stars, and anemones.

Sunset on South Cove beach. Anemones, sea star, snail, not sure what this orange thing is, but it was about 8 inches long. It may have been trash, or a sea creature, closed anemones, sculpin fish, and cool rocks on the beach.

John picking his way over the rocks and logs on the beach to get back to the trail up the cliff to the parking lot. Sunset at Shore Acres wave viewing building.

I have always wanted to see the Christmas lights at Shore Acres. We just happened to be there and it was not all reserved, so we went in. It was a lot of lights, I don't think there was a shrub in there that did not have lights. Under the sea lights, and whales. Heron Christmas lights, flowers and a lady bug, puffins,  a flower with a bee that was flapping his wings, a ship and a dragon fly. It was really pretty.

The gardener's house all lit up. Inside was a fire in the fireplace, cookies, cider and hot chocolate. This was a series of frogs jumping over the pond.
