November 6-8, 2023 Ocean City State Park, Ocean City, Washington

High of 55. Partly rainy, windy and cloudy.

Reflection leaving the state park today, during one of the few moments of sun today. We toured Ocean Shores, curio store that you have to walk through a sharks mouth to enter, shells on the beach, sea grass and Damon point where we walked a bit. The sign says Strong current, you could be swept away from shore and drown,  If in doubt don't go out.

Damon Point. It was windy and cool and we were dressed for touring town. Tomorrow we may walk out on this.

Beached sail boat in a rain puddle. On the North Jetty I was mesmerized watching waves.

Sunset from the North Jetty. There are 3 ships leaving Gray's Harbor. John at Elk Head Tap room tasting Elk Head IPA. I had a nice stout. There was a case of heated nuts too. We had the heated snack mix.

I wrapped up these piece of dichroic glass I made. Waves on Damon Point.

John walking out on Damon Point. Waves and ship.

Many people were surfing. Fun to watch.  Drift wood roots on the beach.

Sunset. High of 56 and sunny. They keep predicting rain and we have another sunny day. Driving over the Columbia River into Astoria, Oregon.

The Astoria end of the bridge over the Columbia River. The bus at our site at Fort Stevens State Park.

Battery Russel at Fort Stevens. You don't usually see right angles in nature. Not sure what happened here.

John on the Russel Ridge Trail. Tall pine trees near the beach.

We found 2 chanterelle mushrooms in our campsite. John cooked them for dinner. Cool mural, We passed the Mermaid museum, next time I am stopping to see it. We drove through Lewis and Clark National Park.  They ended their westward Journey here. Welcome to Oregon. One of about 8 elk in the campground tonight and three deer.

A first for us. We camped in the wrong site. Got this little note on the car windshield. The nice people in the office let us stay where we were.  This on the heels of the other night John spent hours trying to figure out why we didn't have any power. Even made an appointment to get it fixed, then discovered we had just flipped the wrong breaker.  The bozone layer must have lowered on us.
