57 and mostly sunny.
We checked out art in downtown Cannon Beach. It is a cute little beach town, lots of shingled buildings. It is off season, so not crowded at all. Welcome totem on the beach, wave sculpture, seal and these represent the ribs of a whale.
Raven fountain, shell water fountain, pile of chickens and eggs, two parts of a mural about town. We went to Hug point to try to do a hike, but you need low tide and it was not there yet. You can hike from here 4 miles into Cannon Beach at low tide.
Puffins summer here at Cannon Beach. barnacles, rock on the beach, sea gull, jelly fish and feather and red leaf. We had to time it between waves to go around the rocks.
John got caught in a wave rounding this rock. Around another rock the other direction was the falls on Hug Point.
We had a blast with waves chasing us around the points. John leaped into the alcove when a wave came. Water draining out of an alcove.
When there were no roads built here the pioneers drove on the beach at low tide. They could not get around Hug point at low tide, so they blasted a road through the rock on the left. Which way do you think the wind blows here on Arcadia beach??
Looking south toward Hug point. Sun and reflection.
John looking toward Haystack rock in Cannon Beach through the rocks. Reflection.
Cool green rocks. We had hoped there were tide pools there, but just sand.
Looking toward Cannon Beach. Sunset on Arcadia beach.
We had drinks and dinner at Pelican Brewing. John with his IPA. I tasted the Tsunami stout, which was good, but I can't drink a whole beer, so I had wine.
