View of the Sierra's from Independence. The wind blowing dust over Owens Lake.
We waited 40 minutes at road construction going into Panamint Valley. John conversing with the flag man. I got out of the car and saw all these wildflowers. They are not supposed to bloom until March. Pin cushions and five spots. We got fuel on the Indian reservation at only $5.08 a gallon. Five spot, pin cushions and five spots, crypanthia, desert trumpets, pin cushions, phacilia, pin cushions, brittle bush and desert gold.
Panamint Valley. When we got into Panamint valley we were wondering what that line of yellow at the bottom was.
It was a valley full of desert gold. They are confused, they are not supposed to bloom until March. We are now at Sunset Campground at Furnace Creek in Death Valley.
My pathetic basil plant is starting to sprout leaves now that it is getting sun. The other one died before we got here. Got a good photo of me in my crown that I wore to the Fruit Cake Festival.
We wetn to Badwater looking for more flowers. Didn't find any, but a nice reflection shot at Badwater. John photographing the salt formation on the floor of Death Valley.
The salt formations on the bottom of Death Valley. John and I at Badwater.
The floor of Death Valley is a dry salt playa called Lake Manley usually. But with all the rain from Hurricane Hillary there is water in Lake Manley. It is very beautiful. John and I at the sign for Badwater.
