December 7-8, 2023 Glen Ellen to Lodi, California

 55  partly cloudy  and rainy.

Tonight we are at Mayo Family winery. John with VJ our wine taster. The Sonoma Valley Wine Trolley pulled up after we arrived. We waited to taste until after they left.

Our camp spot at Mayo Family winery. Vineyard right behind us.

Sunset tonight. High of 57 and sunny. We are camped at Jessie's Grove Winery outside of Lodi, We have the whole field to ourselves tonight. The vineyard has been in the family for 5 generations and the first grapes were planted in 1886 and are still producing.

Horse in the pasture here. Fall grapevines.

Fall color and the house Jessie grew up in. Fall color and fall grape vines.

Flowers in the garden here. Groovin' at the grove. They had too many grapes and could not process them all, so these zinfandel grapes are still on the vine and won't be used.

Ann pouring John a taste of wine in the tasting room. Our poor pathetic basil plants have not done well in the Pacific Northwest with no sun. Not sure if they will make it.

Sunset tonight. After dinner in the bus we went back into the winery for their open mic night and enjoyed some great music. We sat next to a local couple who among other things had hiked on the Colorado Trail on some of the segments I worked on.
