I got up near sunrise and we went out on a hike in the desert. I love the Sonoran desert. It is so lush for a desert.
Early morning on the desert.
John hiking on the desert in the early am.
Chaco shot for the Chaco album. We passed Organ pipe on our way out of Tucson, another place we will have to come back to see.
We stopped in Ajo, Az. This is one of the churches. We had lunch at a small place that advertised the best burger and beer in town. We had chicken, goat cheese, apricot, spinach Panini's. They had all kinds of craft beer on tap, but John was driving the bus, too bad.
Ajo’s historic square downtown. Another church. Really cute town, looked to be totally snow birders. Looked like a good place to winter.
Gila Bend, home of 1700 friendly people and 5 old crabs- and it names the old crabs! The Space Age Lodge.
It was 99.3 when we finally got the last spot in the second RV park with hookups we tried to stay at. We cranked the AC and when it got down to about 85 it felt cool. We are acclimating pretty fast to the heat. But we still set the AC to 70. John was freezing when it got there and turned it off. The bus at the Augie’s Quail Trail RV Park.
It has a big metal quail out front that John said looks like on of those Easter marshmallow peeps. This Gila Monster is at the first RV park we tried that was full.
So were these to battling dinosaurs, the green one was at one down the road. Behind the green one is a giant cobra. I think someone here in town is a metal artist that likes giant dinosaurs and animals, and they all seem to be at RV parks.
Sunset toward the mountains and sunset toward some kind of cement plant on the horizon.
