Nice day, we crossed the river and hiked Grapevine Canyon.
Crossing the river means going into Nevada. Grapevine canyon is known for its fabulous petroglyphs.
More fabulous petroglyphs. John on the back of the petrified snake.
The canyon is surrounded by these wildly shaped rocks. The canyon narrows.
Narrows more.
It boxes out at this very narrow crack, which we climbed out of.
Further down the canyon is a waterfall. It is only seeping now. The drop is probably 1o feet. The runoff out of it is this ghastly purple. I think someone poured something in there, I hope it is not natural.
Lunch near the fall. Then hiking back in 85 degree sun that washes the color out of things.
We climbed back into the narrow slot canyon.
Continued down. The desert is really greening up and blooming.
Yucca blossoms, cholla and red fishhook cactus.
The ridge, rocks, moon and John.
Past the cool petroglyphs with the moon in the background and to the parking lot where this vulture was circling below a jet trail and the moon. Lots and lots of flowers.
Self heal, forget me nots, brittle bush, asylum, tiny white flowers, tiny, inch high yellow flowers, blue flowers on a bush, yellow flowers.
yellow flowers, red flowers on a bush, pink short flowers, euphorbia, the top of a self heal, yucca, red and yellow pea flowers on the same bush, white flowers.
yellow nightshade, berries on mistletoe, cool lines in this wood, lupine, white flower, more wood lines, vines with white flowers
Heading back into Arizona under the new bridge for the bike path, trail. The top of it kind a matches the ridge behind it. 87 degrees, time for a swim in the river.
