John and I soaked in the Tecopa Hot springs. Very nice. My sister Judy Palmer, George Ross and Suep.
We were attending a memorial service for Lauren Wright who was a geologist who has been studying Death Valley since the 1040’s. He was a long time Shoshone resident. Very nice service, followed by food, drinks and a live band. Sunday we went out to China Ranch date farm. Usually we spend the night in their Tepee's, but they were full this year. This us a photo of the gift shop.
cactus blossoms at China Ranch. Laurie and Neils enjoying date shacks at the ranch.
John and Lou Ann with date shakes and a chicken Lou Ann bought at the gift shop. The date orchard.
The skyline on the way out of the valley that China Ranch is in. After that we visited Jr and Ila’s ranch outside Tecopa. Bert is holding one of the baby pot belly pigs.
The ostriches are in breeding season, so they were flirting with us. The horse was looking coy so I would give him more hay.
Ruins of the borax works outside of Shoshone. Monday morning Laurie, Neils, Bert and Lou Ann stopped at the scenic stops on the way to Death Valley-Amargosa opera house and Ash Meadows. John, Judy and I hiked the Bluff trail behind Shoshone, then headed to the valley.
We saw this horny toad on the hike. He blended right in. When we arrived at Furnace Creek Inn in Death Valley there was a fruit and cheese tray with a bottle of wine. Alex Cabana the manager who we have known for years, since before he was manager served us our wine on the patio in front of our room.
