July 16-17, 2021 Confluence of the South Fork of the Salmon River and the East for of the South fork of the Salmon River, Idaho

We have been off the grid for a week in the wild back country Idaho. 85 and sunny. We drove down to Indian Point Campground at the confluence of the south fork of the Salmon, east fork of the south fork of the Salmon and the Secech rivers.

Green pastures between Cascade lake and the mountains. We drove 30 miles down a one lane ,two way traffic road along the south fork of the Salmon River.

The road follows the South Fork of the Salmon river. It is paved because the dust from a dirt road was ruining the spawning beds of the salmon, the fish, not the river. This is a view of the river. Indian point campground is right before a narrow one lane bridge. No bathroom, no water (except the South Fork of the Salmon river) just nice free campsites along the river. Right after we got there the group minus me kayaked the east fork of the south fork of the Salmon River. They put in at Deadman's campground. I slaved in a hot kitchen and made burritos for dinner.

We met or friends Larry, John, Jennie and Jim- John's longtime kayaking friends. Happy hour after boating. I made burritos for dinner, Jennie made broccoli and Jim brought lettuce from his garden for the burritos.  Jennie, Jim and Larry loading up their plates.

Sunset from camp. No clouds, just the other side of the canyon. Camp in the morning. The group kayaked the south fork of the Salmon river. They put in at Goat Creek. I stayed in camp and sweated in a hot kitchen making red sauce, meatballs, pasta and kale quinoa salad. Also swam in the river, rode my bike, worked on a new basket and guarded camp.

The south fork of the Salmon river where I took my refreshing dip. If you look close you can see the bus on the left bank. The bus from where I was soaking in the cool river.

The Secech river from my bike ride this afternoon. Happy  hour back at camp.

The bus in our campsite. Walt and Jennie playing for us. Walt flew in his Piper Comanche airplane with his kayak and gear from the bay area. Took him 3 hours. he flew a few circles above camp before landing a the grass landing strip  a few miles up the road, Larry picked him up.
