There was a wonderful thunderstorm last night. Everything was misty and sparkly in the morning.
Misty clouds. Coral bells, a rain drop, penstemon, and mock orange blooms against the blue sky.
A blurry chipmunk in the currant bush, rain drop on a leaf, current berries. They are red when they are ripe. mock orange flowers. The bus and car in the misty morning light.
These two motorhomes came in yesterday in the other end of the campground. I was glad to see someone, it was a bit spooky the last two nights to be there all alone. The group returned today. They flew with their kayaks in a plane back since there are no roads to where they were. 3 flights, two kayaks and two passengers each trip. John pulling his boat out of the plane.
The guys helping the pilot push the plane back out for takeoff. It is a grass airstrip. Walt pulled his boat out of the shuttle plane and put it into his own plane. He was flying to Grant's Pass to meet friends to boat on the Rogue river in Oregon tomorrow.
We got all loaded up to depart the campground and of course the step would not go in. You can't drive with it out, so John fiddled with it. It finally went in. Then we spent a hour trying to get the bus out of the campground. He tried the turn around loop, but the turn was too tight, so I was directing him forward and back until he got out, then I backed him all the way out of the campground. John decided not to take the bus out on the one lane, two way traffic paved road because it was so narrow and people were flying around the blind curves, not expecting someone to be there. So we went out 40 miles on a bumpy, pot holey, dirt road that was narrow, steep and was through many burn areas- beware of falling trees and limbs, rolling rocks and flash floods. It was brutal, 20 mph. One of the new tires was damaged and a hubcap fell off and things in the bus bounced off counters and out of drawers. And dust on everything. I followed in the car so the bus would not throw gravel at he windshield if we towed it.
Back on paved road we drove though a huge burn area. Fallen timber all along the road. About 50% of what we drove through was burn area. So sad, but still very beautiful country.
We pulled into the first RV park we saw in Cascade, Id. It was Waters edge RV park. It was right on the Payette river. We were so exhausted after a 3 hour drive that all we did was swim in the river, ate dinner and went to bed. I stayed up late trying to post all the photos from the last week. Still not done. Sunset over the Payette River from the campground beach.
