April 16-18 2022 Las Vegas, Nevada To Shoshone, California

Windy, dusty. and 81 degrees outside. I didn't go out. The last of the Glass Expo.

I took Kent Lauer's Custom Hand Beveling. Kent talking to the class about beveling on the flat lap. I have one and  bevel and polish glass on it , but I learned a lot more. These are what I made. They are beveled and at various stages of polished. There was so much information that we did not get time to totally polish them.

Kent is demonstrating  a diamond dome head. I just picked up my sets of cones and domes ( 5 of each in varying grits) today in class.  As I was paying my class fee he said, oh you're are Sue, one of the cones and domes ladies. There were two of us who had ordered them  It is possible to bevel and polish a whole new world of shapes with these. Dan and Kent taking down when of the machines when the class was over. Dan is the technical rep at Covington, the company who makes those. He has helped me numerous times on the phone when I had questions. I was fun to meet him and learn a number of new tips and maintenance information for my machine from him today.

I got this cool stand for my nautilus piece, an octopus with it's tentacles wrapped around it. It is aluminum and it was silver colored. I learned how to use alcohol inks on it. It now looks kind of brassy to match the iridescence on the glass instead of blaring bright silver. The top part of the photo is closer to the true colors in an indoor kind of light. The glass changes colors in different lights and angles.  The lower ones are green tinted from the tinted windows in the room, but show the stand better. We visited Seven Magic Mountains this morning. It is an art installation south of Las Vegas. It is about 35 feet tall. It was a popular spot to visit today.

Red Rock Canyon just west of Las Vegas as we drove by. Beautiful area with lots of hiking. After we got back to Shoshone we went to Tecopa to have dinner at Steak and Beer. The food and company were excellent.  Susan, John, Judy and Judy.

Sunset from Tecopa tonight. The palo verde trees are blooming in Shoshone City Park.

Weird high wind clouds this afternoon.

Another very weird cloud. Sunset
