73 and sunny. Beautiful day.
We were not going to get fuel till we got to Oregon where it is cheaper, but saw this screaming deal on the Pomo reservation and filled up. The prices in this part of the state are around $7 a gallon. Driving through the redwoods in the bus. No shoulder and narrow lanes, but very pretty.
Bigfoot curios. The bus at Benbow KOA in Benbow.
We stopped here to visit with my friend Kay from college. She is admiring my art here, she even bought a few pieces. Great to see her. We stopped here to visit with my friend Kay from college. She is admiring my art here, she even bought a few pieces. Great to see her.
Kay treated us to dinner. Kay and I. Sunset tonight.
This basket is now done. It is made with dyed pine needles, polyester thread and glass beads. The center is a piece of rose quartz. It is 7 1/2 x 1 1/2 inches. I had these neeedles dyed fushia (looks more lighter red), pink thread and rose beads I wanted to use together. I found this rose quartz at the glass and bead show in Vegas.
Beautiful historic downtown Eureka, California. We stopped here to stock back on groceries and Costco. Good thing we filled up when we found the fuel for $5.79, it is $6.99 here. Flowering fruit tree, red berries on another tree, buttercups and asters in the lawn and white roses.
The bus at Mad River Rapids RV park. I checked, we are by the Mad River, but no rapids near by, they are farther up the river in the Costal Range. It looks like a nice long scenic float to the ocean down here, next time we come here I want to go. It is very green and lots of flowers blooming here.
We went to Mad River Beach county park this afternoon. John dressed for the northern west coast, in every warm thing he owns. It is cloudy, foggy, windy, damp and cold. The high was only 59. Very fun to be back at the coast again. Willet maybe in the surf.
This was about all the sun we saw today. The light was wrong for very good photos. Rhododendrons, calla lilies, beach sand verbena, a weirdly shaped tree branch, sand dollar. I did manage to find a handful of unborken ones, I can't not pick them up. Crab shells.
Sanderlings and willets. The sanderlings flew off when we got close.
Houses along the Mad River. The meager sun reflected in the Mad River.
This is an old railroad bridge over the Mad River. In it's heyday the train brought loads of logs three times a day. Today is part of the coastal bike, hike and horse trail. This area by the river and ocean is a big dairy farming area. Very lush,
