April 27-28, 2022 Klamath to Cresent City , California to Brookings, Oregon

 High of 58 and sunny.

We are in the town of Klamath. It is on the Yurok reservation. Also in Del Norte county, which is the Redwood Gate to the Golden State. Elk in Elk meadows this am, a tiny mushroom on the side of a redwood tree. Trillium, violet and a cool looking piece of redwood.

We hiked Browns Creek to the Rhododendron trail. 4.4 miles and 914 feet of vertical. The trees were monstrous.

John on the trail. Fiddleheads and an unusual marking on a cut redwood.

Brown's Creek. John on a bridge over Brown's creek.

John crossing another bridge. Maidenhair fern, fiddle heads and a banana slug. The banana slug is California's state mollusk.

Rhododendron leaves in front of a big tree. We were hoping they would be blooming, but it is still too early. A banana slug on a fern frond, pink trillium and Solomon's seal.

Sunset from camp. We stopped in Crescent City on our way today for lunch at Crescent Seafood on the harbor. It was really, really good.  I had hot and spicy prawns with mango and asparagus. John had a bang bang prawn taco and a fish taco and then ordered fire dusted calamari.

Two mosaics on the harbor. Then we stopped at the Battery Point Lighthouse. It is only open with the the tide is low, you can't get there when the tide is high. Last time we were through the tide was high.

The flowers around the light house are stunning. Crescent Harbor, fish at the harbor, a carved wooden mermaid and a bigfoot sighting.

In Brookings, Oregon we went to the Azalea park. This is the first time we were in town when the azaleas were blooming. Last time we were here was for the Christmas lights in the garden and we had our photo taken with the Ice Queen.

Welcome to Oregon. Two beach flowers and a rock rose at the Azalea park. Azaleas.

Flowers at Azalea park.

Azalea park. Cappella by the Sea is an event center you can rent. I tried to take a photo of the inside through the glass, but it reflected the trees around it. Real pretty venue.

Azalea Park. I love the twisty trunks the azaleas have.

Backlit maple leaves. Azaleas, calla lilies and wild iris seen at Chetco point where we watched sunset.

Wild iris and the surf. My handsome husband in sunset.

Sunset from Chetco point.
