April 28- May 1, 2022 Brookings, Oregon

High of 57. it is 47 now and raining. Delightful to hear and see rain. We hung out inside and relaxed. I finished one basket and started the next one.

The state park was full so we got a nice spot in a commercial RV park across the street from the marina and by the Chetco River. Today it stared to rain. Sounds lovely.

The newest masterpiece is looking good. A blue magnesite center and stick figure people. We viewed the samurai sword today. During the war a Japanese plane bombed just east of Brookings. The idea was to start forest fires. Of course it is too wet here to burn, so nothing happened. After the war the pilot came back and planted a redwood tree at the bomb site. Later he gave the city a 400 year old samurai sword. It is now displayed in the new library,

We hiked to Secret Beach today. The high was 56, cloudy and a bit rainy. John blending in on the trail. A waterfall on the way down.

Secret Beach. It is best at low tide, low tide will be in a couple hours, but we are here now. The bottom on the waterfall on the beach.

John on Secret Beach. Limpet shells and lily flowers.

John skipping across the rocks on yet another waterfall. The middle part of the waterfall.

After our strenuous hike we checked out Chetco Brewing Company. John with his imperial IPA. I finished this basket. It is 5 x 3 1/2 inches and made with dyed pine needles, polyester thread and glass beads. The center is a piece of dichroic glass that I fused.

This basket is coming along. It is 7 x 8 x 2 inches so far. Jennie and Larry stopped to visit us. They are on their way back from a three day kayak trip down the Illinois river. Nice to see them.

We stopped at the botanical gardens to look for the informational sign about the Japanese bombing during WWII. Here is the sign.

Some cool flowers seen at the botanical garden and a I make beer disappear, what is your super power than was at the brewery we stopped at on the way home. Boats in the harbor in Brookings.

A stream running down the beach to the ocean. Big rocks and waves.

More waves and rocks. An oyster catcher.

Two more oyster catchers. I could not decide which photo to use, so I used them all.

The surf running over my feet. Big wave.

Another big wave. The rocks at Harris Beach State park reflected.
