May 10-12, 2022 Tugman State Park, Oregon

High of 56 and it was actually sunny. No rain.

We hiked the John Dellenback Dunes trail today. I love that on right of the map is says Extreme loose sand makes the beach route challenging and slow going. Fortunately for us it has been raining a lot and the dunes were wet and mostly solid. The 31,566 acre Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area extends 40 miles along the coast from Florence south to Coos Bay. A shifting sea of sand and waving grass whose contours change with the elements. They are showiest in the spring when the rhododendrons are blooming. A small pond on the way to the dunes with a rhododendron.

It was around noon and the light was really flat, not good for photos.  Dune grass and John trudging on the sand.

John trudging past an impounded islet of trees. A small lake in the dunes.

False lilies of the valley in the campground, strawberries growing on the sand dunes,  scotch broom and some red grass. John having lunch.

On the way back as I was going down a dune I must have disturbed the force and rivulets of sand came down in long lines. John running down the dune.

Sunset. We drove from the coast to Eugene.

We are at  Oregon Motorcoach Center to get some maintenance done on the bus. The place is packed. We met our friend Leslie at the Beer Church for dinner. It used to be a church, but it is now a Public House that serves beer and has many food shops. Always good to see Leslie.

The bus at Oregon Motor coach. Tonight we are parked right in front of  one of the bays. They fixed the water heater, put in a new exhaust fan in the kitchen, fixed the light switch for one of the bedroom lights and who knows what else. We are here because they wanted to have us plugged in to make sure the water heater works. John the tech working on it told us to take showers to see if it worked. I hope he didn't think we smelled.18 coaches outside, probably all the bays inside full too. There are 8 Country coaches here outside. Ours is a Country coach, they quit making them 12 years ago so you don't see many of them anymore. Oregon Motor Coach was founded by one of the founding brothers of  Country coach. This is one of the best places to get them worked on. The latest masterpiece in progress. 9 1/2 x 8 x 1 1/2 inches so far. The center is a rock set in resin by my friend Pam. I started this yesterday on the drive here. Worked on it most of the day while we were in the waiting room while they worked on the coach.

Sunset from the Oregon Motor Coach parking lot.  I had to climb the ladder to the top of the bus to get this, it was blocked by too many things from the ground. Other than this, it rained all day.
