70 and partly sunny today,
Three new small baskets. Left one has a cast dichroic glass center and is made with dyed pine needles, polyester thread and glass beads. It is 5 x 4 1/4 x 1 inch. Top right is made with dyed pine needles, glass beads and the center is a cast dichroic glass cat. It is 4 1/2 x 4 x 1 1/2 inches. The bottom right is made with dyed pine needles, polyester thread, glass beads and a fused dichroic glass center. The center is made from old earrings that did not sell. They are real cute. Along our hike today we went up the side canyon we had come down last time out, and were stopped by a cliff with a tinaja filled with water and hiked to the tinaja below the cliff. John heading up.
John surfing on the way down. We were going to kayak, but there was a brisk wind and the water was choppy. See the foam? So we hiked instead.
Looking back at the beach from Ted's trail. These are named smoke trees because the are gray and from a distance look like smoke.
Water formed alcove, bright rocks, a tall cairn, and the one I photographed last hike now has another rock on top, nightshade ground cherry blooms, and caves in the rock. John waiting patiently while I take photos. I join him and we watched the scenery.
Trail signs, roots at the bottom of the cliff from a tree at the top, creosote blooms, and a palo verde tree. In times of drought they can drop their leaves because they can photosynthesize with their green bark. We had given up on sunset and at the last minute the sky lit up.
68 and mostly cloudy. We moved for the last time here to a new spot. We will be here 4 days then we move on. I an working on this new basket. The center is a dichroic tree I fused. It is 9 x 9 x 1 1/2 inches so far.
Beach art. I was hula hooping on the beach this afternoon. It was mostly cloudy so we did not think we would get much of a sunset.
We were surprised again at the last minute when the sky lit up. Sunset with eucalyptus tree and with a palm tree.
Cool rocks in rocks, cracked dirt, and rock daisy's. 64, cloudy and then rainy. We hike all the way up the wash from Wayne's Way trail to the highway, on the way back saw the you must pay sign, with no where to pay.
John on the ridge part of the Wayne's way trail. John approaching the trail junctions.
Holey rocks. I made a lemon meringue pie from two of the lemons picked from the tree in the campground. It was yummy.
