58 and sunny.
We went for a hike in Grapevine Canyon. The canyon is in the Spirit Mountains where the local Indians believe the spirits travel between worlds. I can believe that, it is pretty other worldly. We hike it every time we are here because it is so beautiful. John heading in. Cool rocks.
The mouth of the canyon has thousands of petroglyphs.
More petroglyphs. A few wild shapes and holes.
We have to climb over those rocks in front of John. It is a little bit tricky.
The slot canyon ends at this dry fall. We crossed the river in Laughlin in Nevada to reach our hike. Then came back into Arizona to our camp. Lantern seeds of the nightshade ground cherry, some metates where the Indians ground mesquite seeds. This color full wrinkled cactus was in my face as I was edging around a tight spot and love this line from the slot canyon. John heading up canyon.
Colorful ridge. John in the slot canyon.
Me trying to touch the over hang in the slot canyon. John thought I was just trying to fall. Cool peaks.
Eye of the dragon. Looking back up canyon on our way down.
Another colorful ridge. Cool hoo doo and peaks.
Split rock. Petroglyphs on the say out.
Sunset in camp tonight.
