We woke up to a strange light- the sun was out. It was partly cloudy. We had brief 5-10 minute periods of sun. It was chilly, 44 degrees when John got up, don’t think it made it much past 50. Windy with scattered showers.
The strange light. The top photo is in the am, don’t know if you can see but drops of water are hanging off everything, the bottom photo is late afternoon. Both from our campsite. We hiked out to the light house. You can kind of see it in the far right hand corner. I took most of my photos in the brief periods of sun, the color came out better. It was very windy on this point.
John walking along the trail to the light house. It was like what I image moors to be like. The plants were higher than we were in spots. Some seed heads against an advancing rainstorm.
Cape Blano light house was built in the 1870’s. There was a light house keepers house, barn and a few other buildings, but as the sign said the only thing left is the light house and the wind. No tours after October. But we toured this light house when we were still dating-ancient history. The surf on the other side of the point was cool. We hiked down to the beach, but it was high tide so there was no beach. In the lower left you can see one of those huge killer logs rolling around in the surf. We will visit the beach at another time with lower tide.
On the way back up from the beach we ate lunch on the trail. John eating in his rain gear, it had just rained. You can almost see the rainbow over the ocean here.
The sunlight showed the green really nicely. Looking back toward the campground, with Needle rock in the foreground.
Sunset from the campground. See the light house lit up? While I was standing on the cliff watching sunset I saw a deer on the beach-something I haven’t seen before. I finished this master piece basket. It came out very nice. It has one of the aspen leaves I set in resin at the Maroon bells in the center and couple adventurine red bears. John named it hibernation. The bears are in their caves and it has a fall leaf.
Red cauliflower looking fungus, sea side angelica- flower and seed head. Some really thick bladed grass. I saw this low thistle seed and for a minute thought it was an sea anemone on land, this cute little bird practically ignored us as it ate along the roadside, yellow and white flowers.
Land snail shell, wet lupine leaf, some brave little lupines trying to bloom, yarrow. We were one the Oregon Coast Trail, and crossed the Oregon scenic bikeway. A mossy tree and a multi armed (trunked?) spruce tree.
